1 Clove Garlic
1/3 c. Shortening (Canola Oil)
3 lbs. Lean Stew Beef - Cubed
1 Large Onion - Sliced
Flour
Salt and Pepper
1 c. Tomato Sauce
1/2 c. Beef Broth
1/2 c. Burgundy Wine
1/8 c. Sugar
1 Bay Leaf
1/2 tsp. Thyme
1/2 tsp. Oregano
1/2 tsp. Sweet Basil
1/2 tsp. Rosemary
1/2 lb. Fresh Mushrooms - Sliced
1 Green Pepper - Sliced
1/2 c. Frozen Peas
4 Potatoes - Quartered
6 Carrots - Cut in 1" Slices
3 Stalks Celery - Diced

Directions:
Directions:
Saute garlic in oil until fragrant. Dredge beef in flour and brown seasoning with salt and pepper as desired.

Add tomato sauce, beef broth, wine and sugar. Sprinkle herbs over mixture.

Stir well, cover and simmer for two (2) hours.

Add vegetables and cook for one (1) hour more.

If too thick, add more wine.
