1 lg. can pie cherries (packed in juice)
1 lg. can crushed pineapple
1 c. shortning
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. bran flakes
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. tsp salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. soda
1 c. oatmeal

1 lg. can pie cherries (packed in juice)
1 lg. can crushed pineapple
Step #1:
Drain the above juices into a kettle...add 1 1/2 c. sugar and 1/3 c. tapioca. Cook until thick then remove from heat and add fruit.
Step # 2:
In a bowl mix:
1 c.shortning, flour and sugar (like mixing a pie crust). Add rest of ingredients. In about 10"x13" pan, put half of mixture. Pat down. Add fruit and then remaining crust mixture.
Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes

* 1 can cherry pie filling and 1 (20 oz.) can crushed pineapple, drained may be used as a substitute.
