Personal Notes:
We lived in Oxnard, California for a while in the mid 70's. Dad had his first heart attack while living there. While dad was in the hospital getting prepped for surgery my mother got a call from the other hospital in the area and found out my brother Dwight was in there in critical condition. He owned a motorcycle and had been riding that day and a van hit him. The address on his identification didn't match (he had just got out of the Air Force shorly before this happened) so the hospital could not find next of kin. Dwight had been in the hospital for quite sometime that day before they finally were able to find mom and dads address for notification. Mom went to that hospital to be there for Dwight (who was in ICU) and then she would go to the hospital that dad was in and spend time with him. Both dad and Dwight were in the hospitals for very serious conditions and yet my mom held the fort down at home, stayed as calm as she could be in dealing with both situations. She didn't want to tell dad about Dwight's accident and his injury's because dad was getting ready for a major surgery that he had to have as soon as possible on his heart. She knew that dad's conditon would worsen and he might not make it through the surgery knowing that Dwight was in critical condition. I don't know how she did it, but she balanced everything. The strength my mother has shown in the hardest of times has been an inspiration to me. Mom, I know we never tell you this enough "Thank you for everything and we love you!"
