Personal Notes:
Doug and I were talking one day about how things were when we were young. I don't know how we got on this subject, but I asked him if he remembered when dad used to chop the heads off of our chickens (a very important food source for us). All of us kids would get so excited and race over to the area dad would do the butchering. He'd raise that axe and whack, that chicken body would be hopping all over the place. If we were lucky he would do quite a few at a time and it turned into a regular mosh pit out there, they would bump into each other and fall over. Doug said, "yes, I wouldn't have missed a good chicken head cutting off for nothing..." Things were sure different back then. Nowdays this kind of thing would horrify me. Those chickens would have names and I would probably be pleading for a stay of execution...
