1 cup butter (2 sticks), softened
2 cups sugar
5 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons grated lemon rind
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
3 tablespoons dry milk (optional)
3/4 cup Dr. Pepper Glaze (recipe follows)

Dr. Pepper Glaze:
1/4 cup butter
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup Dr. Pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325ºF. Spray a 10-inch tube pan with baking spray; set aside. Cream butter; add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla and grated rind. Sift together flour, baking powder and dry milk. Add alternately with Dr. Pepper, beginning and ending with the flour. Pour into pan and bake for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until cake tests done.

Pierce top of cake in several places and pour about half the glaze over the cake. Allow cake to remain in the pan for 8 to 10 minutes, then turn out onto a cooling rack. (Place a cookie sheet or a newspaper under the rack to catch drips.) Pierce more holes in the cake and pour the remaining glaze over the cake.

Glaze:
In a medium saucepan, combine butter, sugar and Dr. Pepper. Bring to a boil. Stir until sugar dissolves.
