5 c flour
2 1/2 c white sugar
1 c brown sugar
6 eggs - beaten separately
3/4 lb. butter
1 pt. bourbon whiskey( Jim Beam or Jack Daniels best)
1 lb.marachino cherries - halved
1/2 lb. pitted dates - chopped
1 lb. chopped pecans (2 cups)

Directions:

Soak cherries & dates in whiskey overnight.

Cream butter till fluffy, add eggs, beat well. Gradually add dry ingredients and mix well. Add pecans last. Reserve some flour to dust pecans. This helps keep pecans distrbuted in the cake.

Bake 325º for 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. until toothpick comes out clean. Makes one tube pan or 2 loaf pans
