"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

1# beef stew meat (cut into @ 1” pieces)
½# pork (cut into 1” pieces) I use boneless pork chops
1 ½ C. chopped celery (1/4” pieces)

1 can bean sprouts
1 can sliced water chestnuts
Soy sauce
Bead molasses
Corn starch
Hot rice
Chow mein noodles

Directions:
Directions:
Cut meats into cubes. Brown in Dutch oven.(I use a little olive oil). Cut celery & onion. Throw about 1/4 of the onion in with the browning meat.I also sprinkle a little soy sauce on the meat...When browned, add undrained bean sprouts & water chestnuts. Can add bamboo shoots also, if you care to. Add @ 2T.bead molasses (or regular molasses). Simmer for @ 1/2 hour, until meat is tender. Saute celery & remaining onion in a little oil.( This keeps them a bit crisper than putting them into the pot with the meat, which you can do if you want to. Add them to the pot. Mix @ 11/2T. cornstarch with 1/4 cup of water. Stir slowly into pot & cook till liquid is thickened into a nice gravy. Serve over hot rice sprinkled with some chow mein noodles. Sprinkle on soy sauce. Enjoy!
