1 c. cornmeal
1/2 c. flour
1 egg
3/4 c. milk
4 or 5 firm green tomatoes, 1/4 - 1/2 - inch slices
oil for frying ( I use vegetable or canola)
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Directions:
In a shallow bowl mix together egg and milk.
In another bowl mix cornmeal and flour.
Dredge the tomato in the egg and milk mixture and then immediately in the flour and cornmeal making sure to coat both sides. In a heavy skillet, on med-hot burner, heat 1/4 inch depth of oil. You can tell oil is hot enough when you drop a droplet of water in the oil and it pops. Fry coated tomatoes, a few at a time, about two minutes each side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels. Season with salt and pepper. Serve hot!
