2 c. dried pinto beans (or dried bean of choice)
8 c. water
2 ham hocks
2 tsps. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Wash pintos and put in large pot and add eight cups water. Bring to boil. Lower heat, cover and cook approximately one hour. Add ham hocks and salt. (Left-over ham bone from baked ham may be substituted.) Cover and continue cooking over low heat, checking periodically to see if more water is needed. Usually after ham hocks are added, you will need to add an additional three to four cups water during cooking time. Cook approximately three and a half to four total.
