13/4 cups flour, 1/4 tsp salt, 2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 cup shortening, 1 cup sugar, 1 egg, 1/2 tsp vanilla, 3/4 cup milk, 1 cup partridge-berries.

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together 13/4 cups flour, 1/4 tsp salt, and 2 tsp baking powder. Cream 1/2 cup shortening. Slowly beat in sugar until creamy. Blend until light and fluffy, 1 egg and 1/2 tsp vanilla. Add dry ingredients alternately with 3/4 cup milk. Fold in 1 cup partridge-berries. Pour into an 8 or 9 inch square pan. Mix together 3 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon and sprinkle over the cake. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
