2 cups heavy cream
1 cup half and half
1 clove garlic, minced
2 teaspoon sea salt
group black pepper to taste
21/2 pounds sliced red potatoes, 1/8 inch thick
11/2 cups Gruyere, grated
Optional: Cooked bacon or ham

Directions:
Directions:
Combine the cream, half-and-half, garlic, salt and pepper in a large saucepan. Add the sliced potatoes and stir well to completely coat them with the cream mixture. Bring to a simmer and cook for 25 minutes or until the potatoes are tender. Stir occasionally. Do not let the potatoes boil.

When potatoes are tender, adjust the seasoning and pour into a 8x10 inch baking dish. Add ham or bacon if desired. Sprinkle with cheese and bake in the center of a preheated 425 degree oven until golden on top and the potatoes are completely tender, about 20 minutes.

This recipe was obtained from one of our neighborhood restaurants. It is rich tasting and was served primarily around the holidays when serving a standing rib roast.
