1/2 c sugar
1 c milk
3 egg yolks
2 tbsp cornstarch
pinch of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix and cook in double boiler. Stir and cook until smooth and custardy. Dissolve 1 heaping tsp of plain gelatin in a little cold water. Mix with other ingredients, just before taking off fire. Add 1 tbsp of butter and 1 tsp of vanilla. Cool. Whip 1 pint of heavy cream. Fold in when mixture is cool. Pour into baked pie shells and sprinkle with nutmeg.

I vary with 1 tsp vanilla and 1 tsp of brandy or sherry .
