1/2 c. butter
2 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 - 1 1/2 tsp. freshly ground pepper
3/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
2 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (about 8 oz.)
2 eggs
1 c. plain yogurt

Preheat oven to 375º. Butter and flour a 9 x 5 in. pan. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat; set aside to cool. Combine the flour, baking powder, black pepper, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl. Stir in the cheese. In a medium bowl, lightly beat the eggs. Stir in the yogurt and melted butter. Add to the flour mixture, stirring just until moistened. Spoon into the prepared pan. Bake for 35 min. or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 min., then remove from the pan. Serve warm or toasted.
