2 cups sugar, 1 1/2 cup crisco, 2 eggs, 2 tsp vanilla, 4 cups flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 2 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 cup cocoa, 1 cup sour milk, 1/2 c boiling water, 1 cup milk, 5 tb flour

In a large bowl cream: 2 cups sugar, 1/2 cup crisco, 2 eggs & 1 tsp vanilla. Mix together & add to the above mixture: 4 cups flour, 1 tsp baking powdered, 2 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt & 1/2 cup cocoa alternating with 1 cup sour milk & 1/2 cup boiling water. Drop onto greased cookie sheet. Bake @ 375º for about 15 minutes. Let cool.

Filling: cook 1 cup milk, 5 Tbs flour stirring constantly until thick paste. Cover with waxed paper. Cool in fridge or set in pan of ice water. Cream crisco, 1 cup white sugar, 1 tsp vanilla. Add cold milk flour paste. Beat 10 minutes. Fill cold cookies.

Filling variation
Cook 1 4 3/4 oz vanilla pudding mix with 1 cup milk until thick. Cover with waxed paper. Cool. add to the crisco & sugar mixture from other filling recipe. Mix well with electric beaters.
