Pie pastry for 9" two crust pie
6 small baking apples, pared and cored
2 C packed brown sugar
1 C water
3 T raisins, optional
3 T chopped nuts, optional
(grandma never used these optional ingredients)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven 425º. Roll 2/3 dough in 14" square. Cut into 6 rectangles. Wrap each piece around each apple, if using raisins and walnuts fill centers before wrapping.
Heat brown sugar and water to boil. Pour over dumplings and bake 40 minutes until golden brown and apples are tender, basting with sugar water several times. Top with whipped cream and enjoy.
