1/2 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup baking cocoa
1 2/3 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 cups flour, not sifted
1 cup walnuts, broken into large pieces (optional)
Frost with FUDGE FROSTING RECIPE

Preheat oven to 350º. (330º for glass pan) Grease and flour the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan, set aside. Cream butter and sugar well. Mix remainder of ingredients in order given, except divide the flour and buttermilk and add alternately, ending with the buttermilk. Bake for 28 to 30 minutes, or juts until toothpick comes out clean. Don't over bake. (This cake can also be made in two 9 inch round layers. Use greased and floured waxed paper in the bottom of the pans.) Frost with FUDGE FROSTING, can also add chopped nuts on top, or can frost with traditional vanilla butter cream frosting) Note - This is from the Stake Young Women's Presidency
