3/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup lightly packed brown sugar cream together then
add 1 egg, beat for 2 min.

Thoroughly blend in
3/4 cup light molasses
3/4 cup sour milk (can add lemon to milk to make it sour)

Blend or sift together

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp cloves

Add to the creamed mixture and combine well.

drop from a tsp onto greased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated 350º oven for 12-15 min
