1 c. sugar, divided
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp. cloves
3 medium apples cored, sliced, 1/4 inch thick
1 tbsp. lemon juice or vinegar
1/3 c. margarine
3/4 c. coffee or milk
1 large egg, beaten

Apples are not peeled. Melt butter in 9 or 10 inch iron skillet. Bake for 45 minutes at 350º.
