1/2 lb. Pitted Dates
1 cup Sugar

1 1/2 cup All Purpose Flour
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 3/4 cup uncooked Oatmeal
1 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
3/4 cup Butter

Directions:
Directions:
Mix first 2 ingredients together and cook until thick...cool!

~Mix flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, and oatmeal together...
~With fingers work butter into the mixture until it becomes crumbly. Reserve 1/2 of this mixture. Press the remaining 1/2 into a cookie sheet or cake pan (about 8 x 12)
~Spread date mixture on top and sprinkle with the remainder of the crumb mixture

~Bake in pre-heated oven (375º) until nicely browned. Cut into squares while still warm.

~Flavor is better if left to stand for atleast 1 day
