Directions:
In large mixing bowl combine flour and granulated sugar. In heavy saucepan, combine 1 C butter, coffee or water, and 1/4 C cocoa. Stir and heat to boiling. Make an indentation into center of flour/sugar mixture and pour this hot mixture into indent. Add the buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla. Mix well at high speed with mixer. Pour into a well buttered 17 1/2 by 11 inch jelly roll pan. Bake at 400º for 20 minutes until brownies test done with a toothipick in center. While brownies bake, prepare frosting. In same saucepan you used to melt butter mixture earlier, add 1/2 C butter, 2 T cocoa powder; 1/4 C milk. Heat to boiling, stirring. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and vanilla, mix till smooth. Pour warm frosting over warm brownies so it soaks in.

Personal Notes:
I like to poke holes in top of brownies before adding frosting. You want your brownies to be thin so the larger the pan the better. Enjoy!
