1 medium onion, chopped
6 slices of bacon, cut up
5 (14 oz.) cans of pork and beans in tomato sauce (drain a couple of them--others use juice0
3/4 c. catsup
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 tbsp. prepared mustard
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

In skillet cook bacon, when nearly done, add chopped onion and continue cooking until bacon is crisp and onion is tender. Drain reserving 1-2 tablespoons of grease (with any cracklings in pan). Combine bacon/onion mixture (including tablespoon of bacon grease), beans, catsup, brown sugar, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to mix all ingredients. Transfer bean mixture to a 3-quart casserole (prepared with Pam spray). Bake, covered, at 375º for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

Our family always calls this dish "Doctored Beans". If you prefer, you can combine several of your favorite beans instead of using all pork and beans. A combination of lima beans, kidney beans, pork and beans and butter beans is good, too.
