2 sticks butter
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 tsp. salt
3 c. sugar
5 large eggs
3 c. sifted four
3/4 c. evaporated milk
2 tbsp. water, mixed with milk
2 tbsp. vanilla butter nut flavoring.

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and butter well; add sugar and eggs one at a time. Mix flour and salt alternately with milk and water. Mix into batter. Fold the vanilla butternut flavoring in last. Pour into a well-greased tube pan. Start in a cold oven and set the oven at 325º. Bake 1 hour and 45 min. Do not open the door of the oven during baking. Invert cake on plate after baking. Note: Do not substitute regular vanilla for the vanilla butternut flavoring.
