3/4 c. Crisco
1 c. sugar
1 c. molasses
3 eggs
1 c. sweet milk
4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2 medium cans applesauce
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. each of ginger and nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together Crisco, sugar, molasses; then add eggs and 1 c. milk. Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt together. Add this to the creamed mixture. Grease and flour 9 inch cake pans. Put 1 c batter in each pan and bake 10 minutes, or just until brown in a 375 degree oven. As you take from oven, put spiced applesauce between each layer. Makes 6 or 7 layers.
