2 cups flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper [optional]
1/4 cup cold margarine
1 cup shredded old cheddar cheese
1 cup milk


TOPPING: optional
1/2 cup shredded old cheddar cheese

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, salt & cayenne, if using. Cut in margarine until mixture is crumbly. Stir in cheese. Pour in milk; stir with fork until soft, sticky dough forms. Turn out on lightly floured board & shape into 3/4" square. Cut into 2" squares or rounds & place, touching each other, on uungreased baking sheet.
Topping:Sprinkle scones with cheese.
Bake at 425º for 12-15 min.
