7 qt. cucumbers, 1 1/2 - 3 inches long
1/2 c. salt
6 c. sugar
6 c. vinegar
3/4 t. tumeric
2 t. celery seed
2 t. whole mixed pickling spices
8 (1 inch) pieces of cinnamon sticks

FIRST MORNING: Wash cucumbers, scrubbing well with a vegetable brush. Drain. Place in a large container and cover with boiling water.
FIRST EVENING: Drain. Cover with fresh boiling water.
SECOND MORNING: Drain. Cover with fresh boiling water.
SECOND EVENING: Drain. Add salt and cover with fresh boiling water.
THIRD MORNING: Drain. Prick cukes with a fork. Make a syrup of 3 c. sugar and 3 c. vinegar. Add tumeric and spices. Heat to boiling and pour over cukes. (Will only partially cover).
THIRD EVENING: Drain syrup into pan and add 2 c. sugar and 2 c. vinegar to the syrup. Heat to boiling and pour over cukes.
FOURTH MORNING: Drain syrup into pan and add remaining 1 c. sugar and 1 c. vinegar to syrup. Heat to boiling.
Pack pickles into clean hot pint jars and cover with boiling syrup to within 1/2 inch of top of jar. Cover with hot lids and rings.
Process for 5 minutes in a boiling water bath or at 5 lb pressure for 5-10 minutes in a pressure canner.
