2 cups gumdrops
1 tsp flour to coat the gumdrops
1/3 cup shortening
1/3 cup margarine, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Use clean scissors to cut the gumdrops up into small pieces. Put the cut-up gumdrops into a small plastic bag with a tsp of flour, and shake to coat the gumdrops.
Put the shortening, margarine, sugar and brown sugar into a mixing bowl and blend together. Stir in the egg and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking soda and salt. Stir in the cut-up gumdrops.
Drop the dough by teaspoonfuls onto a cookie sheet, leaving 2 inches between cookies.
Bake 350º for 10 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from pan.

When I did daycare these cookies were very popular with the kids. They preferred regular gum drops while I prefer the spiced gum drops. And I never put in the black ones...
