2/3 cup sugar
1/2 t cinnamon
1/4 t nutmeg
8 large tart apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced,
(about 12 cups)
2 T water
2 T lemon juice
2 T butter

Crumb Topping
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup flour

Directions:

For filling preheat oven to 350. In large bowl combine sugar,cinnamon and nutmeg. Add apples, sprinkle on water and lemon juice. Toss until evenly coated. Spoon into a 9-inch deep dish pie pan (without pastry). Dot with butter. For crumb topping, cream brown sugar, softened butter. Add flour and sprinkle on top of apples. Bake at 350 for 45 to 50 minutes.
