4 slices bacon, diced
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c vinegar
1/2 c water
salt to taste
1 head lettuce (green or red leaf), torn into bite-sized pieces
1 onion, sliced and separated into rings

Directions:
Directions:
Cut bacon and fry until almost done. Add sugar to the pan; stir. Add vinegar, water, and salt to taste. Bring to a boil (sugar will crystalize at first). Let mixture cool slightly before pouring over the lettuce and sliced onions. Toss. Serve hot.
