1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup whole-wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
Pinch ground nutmeg
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 cup pumpkin purée
1 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 cup pumpkin ale

Preheat the oven to 350°. Grease a 9 inch loaf pan. Brown the butter in a heavy bottom medium saucepan over medium low heat. When the butter has browned (about 3 minutes), set aside to cool. In a large bowl, whisk together the flours, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. Stir the pumpkin and brown sugar into the cooled brown butter, then stir in the eggs. Finally, stir in the pumpkin ale. Add the pumpkin mixture to the dry ingredients and stir just until combined, then transfer the batter to the greased pan. Bake for 1/2 on hour at 350º then lower the heat to 325º and bake for about another 30-40 minutes, or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. Enjoy!
