1 lb. ground meat
1 onion, medium
1 small carrot, grated
3 garlic cloves
1 can of tomato paste
1 medium can tomato sauce
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 Tbsp. oregano
3 bay leaves
Salt & pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Chop up onion and garlic and saute in olive oil. Add salt and pepper and ground meat. Drain the meat. Add tomato paste just before you finish browning the meat. Cover the meat mixture. Add grated carrot and oregano and stir. Once the mixture is hot, add a can of water (from the empty tomato paste can) and stir. Add in the bay leaves and tomato sauce. Simmer for 30-45 minutes, adding water as needed for the right consistency. For variations on the basic sauce, add mushrooms, green peppers, zucchini, squash, etc.
