Ingredients:  
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 can green beans---peas and carrots, etc. (your choice)
1 can brown gravy
1/4 c. water
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
6 medium potatoes (about 2 pounds)
1 beaten egg
milk for mashed potatoes
1/2 c. shredded cheese (American or sharp, about 2 ounces)

Directions:
Directions:
In large skillet cook meat and onion until meat is lightly browned and onion is tender; drain off fat.
Stir in green beans, gravy, water, salt, pepper; turn into a large 2 quart casserole dish.
*Cook potatoes in boiling salted water till tender, about 20 minutes; drain.
Mash potatoes while hot; blend in beaten egg.
Add enough milk to make potatoes fluffy, yet stiff enough to hold their shape.
Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Drop potatoes in mounds on top of meat mixture, sprinkle top with cheese.
Bake 350º or until heated through, about 30 minutes.

*You can use Instant Potatoes, but don't tell my Mom.

On Sundays Mom always had a large dinner ready for us after church. She would disguise any leftovers to carry us through the week. This was a good meal to use up any leftover potatoes and gravy.
