1 garlic clove, halved
cooking spray
3-4 potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/8 inch slices
2 tbsp. butter, melted
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/2 c. (2 oz.) Gruyere cheese, shredded
1 c. milk

Preheat oven to 425º. Rub an 11x7 inch baking dish with cut sides of garlic halves; discard garlic. Coat dish with cooking spray. Arrange half of potato slices in dish; drizzle with 1 tbsp. butter. Sprinkle with 1/4 tsp. salt and half of the pepper. Top with 1/4 c. cheese. Repeat layers. Bring milk to boil over low heat in small saucepan or in microwave. Pour over potato mixture. Bake, uncovered for 40 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
