1/2 cup butter
1 to 2 tbsp. cold water
1 cup flour

3 eggs
1 tsp. almond extract

1 1/2 cups icing sugar
1 to 2 tbsp. water
2 tbsp. soft butter
1 tsp. almond extract (may use vanilla)
sliced almonds

Directions:

Cut butter into the flour until crumbly. Sprinkle with water; toss with fork 'til moist enough to shape into a ball. Divide in 1/2. On an ungreased pan, shape each into a 12" X 3" rectangle.
In a saucepan, bring water and butter to a vigorous boil. Add almond extract. Add flour all at once; stir until a smooth ball forms. Remove from heat. Using a hand mixer add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Spread over dough, covering completely. Bake at 350º F for 1 hour or until crisp and golden brown. Cool. Ice and sprinkle with almonds.
