1 package German Chocolate cake mix
1 - 14 oz. package caramels (about 50)
3/4 C. butter or margarine, melted
2/3 C. evaporated milk (small can), divided
1 C. chocolate chips
1 C. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.

In heavy saucepan, melt caramels and 1/3 C. milk over low heat. In large bowl, by hand, mix dry cake mix, butter, nuts and 1/3 C. evaporated milk until it holds together. Press 1/2 of this mixture into greased 13 X 9 pan and bake for 6 minutes. Over partially baked crust, sprinkle chocolate chips. Pour caramel mixture over top. Dot remaining crust mixture over this and spread as evenly as possible - need not fully cover caramel. Bake 15 - 18 minutes. Cool.
