2/3 to 1 c. Sugar
1 T. Cornstarch
1 c. Water, boiling
3 c. Fruit with juice
1/2 T. Butter
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon

Shortcake Dough:
1 c. Flour
1 T. Sugar
1 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Salt
3 T. Shortening
1/3 to 1/2 c. Milk

Directions:
Directions:
In a medium saucepan, mix together the sugar and cornstarch. Gradually stir in boiling water. Bring to a boil and boil 1 minute stirring constantly, then add fruit with juice. Pour into a 9x9 baking dish. Dot with butter, sprinkle with cinnamon. Set aside.
To make the shortcakes, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Using a pastry blender, cut in the shortening. Stir in milk to make the dough soft. Knead lightly. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto the fruit mixture. Bake at 400ºFor 30 minutes.
