Caramel Sauce:
1 1/2 c brown sugar
2 c boiling water
2 tbsp butter

Dumplings:
1/2 c sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp butter
1 1/2 c flour
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 c milk

Directions:
Directions:
Caramel Sauce:
Stir together brown sugar and water in a cooking pot until sugar has dissolved, add butter and simmer while you mix the dumplings.

Dumplings:
Cream butter, salt and sugar; add sifted flour and baking powder alternately with milk to make a stiff batter. Drop by tablespoonfuls into boiling sauce. Cover and let boil, gently, for about 15 minutes.

Serve with or without whipped cream.
