A. Sweet Drop Biscuits

1 cup - flour
1 TBSP - sugar
2 tsp - baking powder
1/4 tsp - salt
3 TBSP - shortening, butter or margarine
1 - egg, beaten
1/3 cup - milk

B. Sweet Rolled Biscuits

2 cups - flour
2 TBSP - sugar
4 tsp - baking powder
1/2 tsp - salt
1/3 cup - shortening, butter or margarine
3/4 cup plus 2 TBSP - milk

1. Blend first 4 dry ingredients.

2. Cut in 3 TBSP shortening finely.

3. Add egg and 1/3 cup milk.

4. Stir with a fork to make a drop batter.

Use on cobblers and other fruit desserts. Drop from spoon onto berry mixture and bake at 375ºF for 35 to 40 minutes.




B.

1. Blend first 4 dry ingredients.

2. Cut in 1/3 cup shortening finely.

3. Add milk and stir with a fork to make a soft dough.

4. Turn onto lightly floured surface and knead gently 8 to 10 times.

5. Roll out approximately 9 x 12 inch rectangle.

Can be filled with 2 cups of sweetened fruit. Use your imagination here.
Bake for 10 minutes at 400ºF and then 350ºF for a further 25 to 30 minutes.

This is a great, old fashioned "standard" recipe. Spice it up with a bit of cinnamon or other spices and serve with cool whip, ice cream or whipped cream. A pleaser.
