½ c shortening
1 c sugar
2 eggs
1¾ c flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
1 c applesauce
Glaze: ½ c confectioners sugar + 1 T water.

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening & sugar together, add eggs & beat. Mix together dry ingredients & add to mixture alternately with applesauce. Put in 9” by 5” loaf pan. Bake at 350º for 1 hour. For a 9” x 9” pan, bake 35 min. Mix glaze ingredients and pour over loaf or cake.
