1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp sugar
3 cups flour

`Ground Pepper to taste

1 quart vegetable oil for frying

Directions:
Directions:
Dough
Bring the lard and milk to a boil - take off stove and let cool
when cool - add in the salt, pepper and sugar and flour
Mix well and let the dough sit for an hour

Filling
Combine ingredients and let set for an hour

Roll dough to about 1/4 inch (similar to pie dough) cut into circles - depending on how big you want. A saucer size will make similar to hamburger size - I use a more of a dumpling size circle.

Add meat filling, fold the dough in half over the meat filling. seal the edges with water.and fry in the oil until golden brown on each side

Fry the meat pies

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
when I made these for my dad - without the onion - he stated these tasted like a meat pie his Grandma Sampers used to make.

I found that my grandchildren are a great help at folding the dough and sealing the edges.
