1 loaf French bread
1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1/3 c. butter, melted
2 T. pancake syrup
3/4 c. pecans, chopped
5 eggs, lightly beaten
1 c. milk
2 T. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Additional syrup, for serving

Directions:

Cut ten 1-inch-thick slices from French bread loaf.

Stir together and warm brown sugar, butter and syrup and pour into a lightly greased 9x13 baking dish with a lip. Sprinkle pecans over mixture. Arrange bread slices over pecans.

Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. Pour egg mixture over bread.
Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Bake uncovered 350º for 30-35 minutes until lightly browned. Serve with warm syrup and a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
